We started our journey in 2017 as a department in a sister organisation, distributing rice and maize seedlings to farmer groups in the northern part of Ghana and Burkina Faso. In the following 24 months after inception, we delivered over 200,000 certified rice and maize bags to a target audience. The germination rate of the inputs supplied was over 98%.
AFC was spun-off and incorporated as a limited liability company under the Ghana Companies Code in October 2018. It opened offices in Accra and a central warehouse in Tema soon afterwards. The company then won mandates to supply and distribute fertilizer under the Ministry Of Food and Agriculture (Ghana) Planting for Food & Jobs Programme in 2019 and 2020. During that time, AFC distributed 10,000 MT of Urea and Blended NPKs to farmer groups in the Ahafo, Central, Eastern, Ashanti and Northern Regions of Ghana.
During the 2020 season, AFC formed strategic alliances with several distributors (OPC, LDC Ltd) and aggregators (AgriSolve Ltd) that gave us direct access to 100,000+ farmers in the Savannah and Forest Transitional Zones in Ghana. The extended footprint facilitated allowed the company to evolve its product offering to include enhanced vegetable, rice and maize seeds to its farmers.
